Sharing Web Resources
I chose to focus on the web site NAEYC.org.
The latest issue focuses on supporting the emotional development of young children as they face crisis events and trauma. I feel that during the current unstable time, as we all face the challenges of the COVID 19 Pandemic, there are tremendous uncertainties and changes in every family. These articles will be a valuable resource. In addition, there are a few articles that focus on promoting early literacy in preschools. furthermore, since I am a member of NAEYC, I have wider access to many resources at the NAEYC websites that are dedicated to subscribers only. This is a great benefit, as I have access to the whole magazines and articles versus having access to selected articles only.
As I was browsing the list of articles, one article, in particular, caught my attention as it relates to diversity: “Our Proud heritage. Understanding children’s Sense of Identity” The Life and the Work of Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark (1917-1983). Dr. M.P. Clark’s research was introduced and one of the major findings was that young children identify themselves by their skin color and portray cultural awareness at a young age, Jepkemboi, et al. (2020). In addition, the article introduces several ways to support the development of the identity of the children. For instance, modeling our respect and equality to all of our diverse children. Also, we should plan an environment that will reflect the diverse children in the classroom, and add books to the classroom’s library that reflects the identity and the diverse population of the children in the classroom, Jepkemboi, et al. (2020).
This article provides professional educators like me with insights and resources to support diversity, and I recommend adding this article to the resources about diversity. It can be found at the latest issue of Young Children magazine.

Hello! I love that you were able to find a relevant article! I think I may need to broaden my search as I was unsuccessful in finding an article specifically about Hispanic children in early childhood programs. Although, I do love how NAEYC includes so much information on diversity in general.
