When I Think of Research
My simulation research focuses on the research question What is the difference between social-emotional skills in children with teachers’ facilitation to the growth of social-emotional skills in children without teacher’s collaboration in inclusive early childhood classrooms?
Social-emotional development in the early years sets the foundation for the children’s lives. Practicing self-regulation, sharing their feelings, and effectively communicating with others will promote growth in children’s self-esteem, school readiness skills, and developmental domains. Examining the methods teachers use to foster social-emotional skills and the ways children practice them will contribute to the field of early childhood education as it will provide educators and other professionals with essential insights and tools to support children. As I am passionate about inclusion, I chose to focus my study in inclusive settings to reinforce both typically developing children and children with special needs.
I always perceived research as an integral part of my professional role, and I had established my knowledge through research-based studies. Currently, I feel that I can relate to the study research on a different level. For instance, I learned about the research structure and the inquiry process that starts with a research question (Trochim et al., 2016). I gained insights into the research process, the different methods, and its measures to validate a study.
As my awareness and advanced insights into research expands, I feel much appreciation for the researcher’s role in providing educators with essential knowledge about the early childhood field. Besides, considering my awareness of the different research methods, I can choose the strategies to support my purpose when needing a reference to support my professional work from research.

I also did social-emotional skills and I found some good things that I can use in my classroom as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilana,

Hello Ilana,
ReplyDeleteSocial emotional health and development is so important for children. It is the foundation of all other learning. I also think it effects the quality of life into adulthood. Excellent choice.

Hello Ilana,
ReplyDeleteIn the preschool period, social and emotional development is children's ability to express themselves, control their emotions, and be compatible with themselves and their environment. I am grateful for your attention to this critical period.
