Inspiration and Motivation- Code of Ethics
As a professional educator in the field of early childhood education, I feel that the most valuable code of ethics is to respect the dignity and worth of the children we work with, their families, and respect our colleagues who share our role, NAEYC,(2005, April), Code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment, Core Values. Respect is an essential value in my personal and professional life. I believe that all children should be respected and deserve to be enrolled in developmentally appropriate practice. Parents should be respected based on their culture, values, and beliefs, and the educational team should be respected and viewed as a valuable part of the teaching process.
In addition, according to The Division for Early Childhood, (2000, August), Professional and Interpersonal Behavior, section 4, As professional educators we should be the voice for children with special needs, support them and their families. Another Code of ethics That I am aligned with is to serve as an advocate for children with special needs at the government level, in order to make some changes in the laws and to support and improve the lives of children with special needs and their families, the Division for Early Childhood. (2000, August), Professional Development and Preparation, section 2.
I am passionate about equality, diversity and supporting children with special needs. As a professional educator, I founded early childhood inclusive programs. I collaborated with professionals, like psychologists, occupational and speech therapists, and with parents in order to support children and accommodate their needs. As I embark on my educational journey at Walden university, I use this platform to raise awareness and to have more professional educators share my passion.

I relate to your comment about respect as an essential value both personally and professionally. It definitely needs to be in both. If you don't live it personally then it won't be authentic professionally. I've enjoyed reading your blogs and discussions during this course.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to respect I feel that it is a very important part to everything we do in life. I feel that this word "respect" is used a lot but many don't realize the meaning of the word. So many people have a different meaning for that word that we must ask people what does that word mean to time. This is why I feel that we all should use the golden rule (treat others how you want to be treated) when dealing with being respectful to one another. Thank you for sharing your heart and passion for what you do in the early childhood education field.
